This review of The Last Song delighted me. Here is my favorite paragraph:
Though Cyrus moves well enough within the controlled atmosphere of her music videos, The Last Song reveals her as an ungainly presence, galumphing from scene to scene. Her face, which turns down when it should turn up, is without wit, and her smile is not warming or convincing. She has the look and aura of a character actress, minus the acting and the character. Then again, charm can go a long way on screen toward covering up performance flaws. Alas, Cyrus either has no cinematic charm or does one of the best jobs of suppressing it in living memory.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOF. sometimes you know why the critics got their jobs. boy, they weild a mighty sword with their words!
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite reviews ever was for a horrible jennifer lopez movie. i forget which one. probably the one where she was a wedding planner. anywhoo, the critic said something like "jennifer lopez's wardrobe courtesy of MERVYNS". I JUST ABOUT DIED reading that line! if you don't know mervyns, this joke will be lost on you. but it made me howl out loud!
